More updates out there

I have not heard a lot from out in worst areas of West Kentucky. Here is what I heard. Thanks to all the people who posted comments on my blogs and giving me news. There have been 3 deaths and over 400,000 customers in KY without power. Multiply it by 3 or 4 to get the number of how many people are in the dark.

In Livingston County US 60 has trees branches down, and therefore is closed till further noticed. Burna and areas in Livingston County have been without power and water since yesterday.

In Paducah the NWS is disabled. Service backup is being provided in the NWS by surrounding offices. Most of the area is without power and it may take days or even weeks.

In Murray classes are canceled till Monday. I heard that there was damage to Murray State Campus. And power is out probably for awhile.

In Hopkins County Dawson Springs a town of 2,500 is all without power for 2 to 3 weeks. A town of Crofton across the Hopkins/Christian county line in Christian County has damage a lot of trees have fallen and power is expected to be out for up to 3 weeks.

Mayfield only has two buildings open. The town is running out of water due to a main water break damaged. A crisis and power may not be on till Valentines Day or even a little later.

Lets all pray for all the victims of the Ice Storm.

Greetings from Wisconsin. My family is in southern Crittenden County and I've not been able to reach anyone for days now - do you have any resources that would give any information for that region? I've tried WPSD and their site has no post-storm info. - the Paducah Sun site as well. Both land line and cell phone calls are met with a busy signal...are there many cell towers that aren't down?
Sorry for the number of questions, but any help you can give would be appreciated. Please send me an email:

Thank you!

It is ok. Southern Crittenden County I dont have any reports from that county. Yes most cell phones are down. NWS PAH is having to have surrounding offices back them out. I would assume that US 60 is probably closed because it is in nearby Livingston County. You could also try the Evansville news channels on my links on the left side of the site. Crittenden county is the edge of thier viewing area I believe.

I had to leave Fulton KY due to no power TVA lines are down and power to the city could be 2-5 days. Then power has to be restored throughout the town and rural areas on case by case basis. Rumor is the town will lose water by tomorrow. The area should be declared a disaster not just an emergency.

Oh Ok I will try to find more reports. It will be if you are from New England something called "FALLDOWN" will occur this weekend. That means all the limbs which are still frozen and haven't really melted at all will thaw out and fall to the ground for Sat and Sun. that could at least briefly knock out more power and cause hazards. Other bad news is we are watching to see if West KY will get effected by what might be a decent snow event Mon/Tues. So much going on storm reports and in the future.
