A BLANKET OF SNOW COVERS MUCH OF WESTERN KENTUCKY AND SOUTHWEST
INDIANA EARLY THIS MORNING...WITH A LITTLE SNOW IN FAR SOUTHEAST
ILLINOIS AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AS WELL. IN GENERAL...
SNOW TOTALS RANGE FROM A DUSTING FROM WEST OF PADUCAH TO NORTH OF
EVANSVILLE...TO AS MUCH AS 4 TO 6 INCHES OVER THE PENNYRILE REGION
OF KENTUCKY...FROM CADIZ TO OWENSBORO EASTWARD. IN BETWEEN...TOTAL
ACCUMULATIONS IN THE 1 TO 3 INCH RANGE ARE COMMON.
WHILE THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING
HOURS...ROAD CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY REMAIN VERY SLICK AND
HAZARDOUS FOR SEVERAL HOURS TO COME. ROAD CONDITIONS ARE MOST
TREACHEROUS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY ALONG THE PENNYRILE...WEST
KENTUCKY...AND AUDUBON PARKWAYS...AND ALONG INTERSTATE 24 EAST OF
PADUCAH TO HOPKINSVILLE. IN SOUTHWEST INDIANA...HAZARDOUS TRAVEL
CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN REPORTED ALONG U.S. 41...WITH BLACK ICE EVEN
REPORTED AS FAR NORTH AS INTERSTATE 64. EVEN IN LOCATIONS WHERE
TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WERE LESS THAN ADVISORY CRITERIA...SUCH
AS PADUCAH AND EVANSVILLE...TRAVEL IS HAZARDOUS IN SOME AREAS...
PARTICULARLY ON SECONDARY ROADS AS WELL AS BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.
TRAVEL ACROSS MUCH OF WESTERN KENTUCKY AND SOUTHWEST INDIANA IS
STRONGLY DISCOURAGED EARLY THIS MORNING. IF YOU MUST VENTURE
OUT...USE EXTREME CAUTION...SLOW DOWN...AND GIVE YOURSELF EXTRA
TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION. YOU WILL LIKELY ENCOUNTER SLOW
MOVING SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT. HEED TO THESE ROAD CREWS WHO ARE
DOING THEIR BEST TO MAKE TRAVEL CONDITIONS BETTER FOR ALL OF US.
