May 6th 2003 6 years Ago

FROM NWS PAH

This is the 6th year anniversary of the May 6th 2003 Tornado Outbreak. In which 10 separate tornadoes occurred in West KY. Luckily none were greater than F2. The biggest tornado was a F2 that passed just to the north of Wickliffe KY and damaged several houses in the area. That supercell moved all the way from SE MO to Cairo IL and produced tornadoes from Ballard County to McCracken and Graves County into Marshall County with the last tornado touchdown ending near Kentucky Lake.

Also a distarous F4 occured just north of West KY across Far South IL killing 2 and injuring 33. In which several homes were totally wiped out across the area.

Over 11 tornadoes occured on May 4th of this year along with one of the most damaging hailstorms in West KY history. Also on the early morning of May 11th a f3 tornado occured in Sacremento in McLean County.

Several hail and wind reports occured on other days from May 1st till the 15th as part of the very active and historic 2003 Tornado Outbreak Sequence that sweeped the nation from the Rockies to the East Coast.
