...A FLASH FLOOD WATCH WILL BE IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING
THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD
WATCH FOR PARTS OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...SOUTHERN ILLINOIS...
WEST KENTUCKY...AND SOUTHWEST INDIANA.

* THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLOODING WILL PERSIST
THROUGH THE WEEKEND. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF TWO TO FIVE
INCHES WILL BE COMMON WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THIS
HEAVY RAIN FALLING ON ALREADY SATURATED SOIL COULD LEAD TO FLASH
FLOODING. THE BEST CHANCE OF FLOODING WILL BE OVER THE WEEKEND.
HOWEVER...WITH THE FRONT COMING INTO THE HEARTLAND TODAY...SOME
FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE AS EARLY AS TONIGHT...ESPECIALLY OVER
PORTIONS OF WESTERN KENTUCKY... SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND FAR
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS.

SMALL STREAMS WILL BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLASH FLOODING.

RIVERS ACROSS THE AREA WILL LIKELY EXPERIENCE SIGNIFICANT RISES AND
MAY GO INTO FLOOD THIS WEEKEND. THOSE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
SHOULD BE ALERT AND CAREFULLY MONITOR WATER LEVELS.

SOME RIVERS WERE ALREADY IN FLOOD AND ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN WILL
ONLY EXACERBATE THE FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
