Quote from the above site on Dogwood Winter
"Dogwood Winter is a cold spell that occurs after spring seems to have arrived (in Kentucky, usually mid April) and while the dogwood trees are in bloom. In the northern parts of Kentucky or where dogwoods are uncommon, it may be called locust winter for the tree that blooms at about the same time. The climate lore name recognizes the return of a continental polar air mass of sufficient severity to feel like winter again."
We are about to have a round of dogwood winter. Also there is a possibity of a SIG. Frost and Freeze event across West KY and Middle TN. Stay tuned. Keep gardens and premature bulbs covered up. There are also tips to prevent the crops from recieving excessive damage to in this event. Low's we drop into the low to mid 30's in many areas. Snow flurries are poss tonight and early tomm.
