THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE
HEAT WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THURSDAY. THE
HEAT ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

WILL LIKELY EXCEED 105 DEGREES THROUGHOUT THE QUAD STATE...AND
MANY LOCATIONS WILL EXCEED 110 DEGREES...ESPECIALLY OVER
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS...AND THE PURCHASE AREA
OF WEST KENTUCKY. NIGHTTIME MINIMUM HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL BE IN
THE MID 70S. ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE

DAYS CAN BECOME INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS TO MOST PEOPLE IF THE
PROPER PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. YOUNG CHILDREN...THE
ELDERLY...THOSE WITH ILLNESSES OR HEART CONDITIONS...AND THOSE

DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE COMBINATION OF HOT
TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS
SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY. DRINK PLENTY OF
FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...
AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.

CHILDREN AND PETS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN VEHICLES
UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE DURING WARM OR
HOT WEATHER WHEN CAR INTERIORS CAN REACH LETHAL TEMPEATURES IN A
MATTER OF MINUTES. BEAT THE HEAT...CHECK THE BACK SEAT.
