For Flood updates. Many areas still well above flood stage, but all have crested and are starting to fall, not much rain expected with this system, so rivers should continue their fall.

- Temps in the 75-80 range can be expected for today, Monday, and Tuesday. Storms are possible Wednesday, and a few of those could be strong to severe.

River Flood Situation

Major Flooding
- Ohio River at Cairo(should crest Friday). Some road closures along the river, and any unprotected property along the river is the concern.
- Ohio River at Grand Chain (should crest Friday) Some road closures along the river, and any unprotected property along the river is the concern. If any heavier rain arrives next week, another crest is possible.

Moderate Flooding
- Mississippi River at New Madrid(should crest over the weekend any heavier rains next week could cause another crest). Roads may close, any property could be threatened.
- Ohio River at Shawneetown, and Mount Vernon(should crest within a day or two, than start to fall). Rural roads around the river, are closed.

Minor Flooding
- All the rest of the rivers. Some rural roads may close, and farmland could flood. The Green River at Paradise and Calhoun is falling back towards Minor Flood Stage, and should exit flood stage by early next week.

- There is Flash Flooding, River Flooding, Small Stream/Urban Flooding, Tropical Cyclone Flooding, Snowmelt-IceJam Flooding.

Lake Fever.

After today temperatures will rise into the 60's and 70's through early next week, as a warm, and drier air-mass takes over. Some lake fever may take over, as on some days the temperatures could flirt with 80.

Warm up a lot faster than expected. Could see some 70's today.

Watch out for some Moderate to near Major flooding along parts of the Green and Ohio Rivers. The river flooding is caused by snowmelt, and increased precipitation in February, Early March. Roads near the river, and possibly even a few structures are expected to be impacted.

Update on Tsunami and Earthquake

- The 8.9 quake was the 5th strongest earthquake in the world since 1900.

5 to 6 feet waves in parts of Hawaii, Tsunami Waves of 3 feet, can cause some damage on the coast, so the main concern for the west coast is to evacuate the beaches, and immediate coastline.

Moderate Flooding along the Ohio River at Paducah, also at Cairo, Grand Chain, Shawneetown, with Moderate Flooding also occurring along the Green River at Calhoun and Paradise.

Rainy Nights

Locally heavy rain amounts of 1 to 2 inches will be possible tonight into early tomorrow. No big time flooding is expected, but some ponding of roadways, and streams could rise out of there banks if heavier showers pass by.

From the NWS of Louisville(to think about during today's tornado drill)

· Kentucky averages around 10 tornadoes per year, however the number each year can vary greatly, for instance in 1997 Kentucky experienced 39 tornadoes.

· Kentucky’s highest chance for a tornado is in the month of April.

· Most tornadoes are rated as EF0 to EF1.

· 80 people on average die each year from tornadoes.

· Over 1,500 are injured from tornadoes in an average year.

· Most often tornadoes travel around 30 mph but are capable of going 70 mph or are even capable of standing still.

Statewide tornado drill tommorow?

A statewide tornado drill(not the real thing) is supposed to occur for Kentucky, tomorrow at 9:07am as far as we know now

River Stages

A widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain fall yesterday, and Friday Night.

- This won't help the river situation as many rivers will remain in Minor to Moderate Flood Stage.

Still concern about some heavy rain late tonight into tomorrow. 1 to 3 inches of rain can still fall, turn around and don't drown.
