Bridge Collapse

Eggner Ferry Bridge has collapsed east of Aurora KY(far southeastern Marshall County). This is the bridge that separates the LBL/Turkey Bay/Camp Energy campground from Aurora KY.

Scattered wind reports across Western KY last night. Two areas of structural damage one southeast of Murray and in Daviess County. Survey's may be needed to determine if higher wind occurred, or even a brief tornado in those areas.

Update

Update: Storms should move into far Western KY in the next hour or two. Damaging winds appear likely a few tornadoes will also be possible. Think the worst tornado threat stays just to the south of the area, but still a threat. Western Middle TN may have a slightly greater tornado threat than Western KY. Damaging winds will be the main threat.

Tornado Watch #6 for all of Western Kentucky till 2am. Watch out for widespread damaging winds and a few tornadoes across Western KY. The event will start around 930 from Hickman to Wickliffe KY. Move across Benton/Murray KY around 11pm, and clear Western KY by 1:30am.

Still watching an overnight severe weather event for Western KY and Middle TN right now a Slight Risk of severe weather(but an upgrade to MDT risk later is possible for some areas). Damaging winds, large hail, and possibly a few tornadoes are all possible in the 7pm-1:30am range across Western KY, and the 9pm-5am range across Middle Tennessee.

Don't sleep on this potential damaging wind event tomorrow night. Could be a few tornadoes especially across Middle TN and western and southern portions of Western KY. Hard to pinpoint where the worst threat will be, but everyone in Western Kentucky and Middle TN needs to be prepared for a rough ride starting at about 7pm.

- Cool start to today.
- Tomorrow will start of cool but don't be fooled because warm air and moisture will make a return out ahead of a very powerful pacific system.
- A slight risk of Severe weather is in effect for Western KY for Sunday.
- Potential exists for a squall line to move through the area in the evening-overnight hours. Damaging winds(may be widespread), large hail, and isolated tornadoes are possible.

Today's overview

- Rain tonight for Western KY may mix in with brief sleet/frz rain in the Henderson/Owensboro KY area for a little bit, but should mostly stay rain with limited impacts.
- There may be an isolated severe threat just to the south of Western KY tonight in the warm sector.
- Watch out for a dynamic system Sunday night. A squall line may form and produce damaging winds. This is nocturnal and nocturnal severe weather can be troublesome so this will need to be watched.

Update again

Winter WX Advisory continues for areas along and east of US 45. Some light snow showers with very light accumulation possible east of US 45 overnight. Total snow should range from .5 to 2 inches across Western KY. Although the snowfall is light temperatures will fall to the teen's causing major slick roads/black ice issues well into tomorrow morning.

Watch out for slick spots on roadways tonight and into tomorrow. Even though only a dusting to 1 inch has fallen over Western KY and NW Mid TN roadways will be very hazardous due to the falling temperatures.

Snow Update 2

The snow has arrived about 2-3 hours early. Heavier bands could lead to accumulation of grassy surfaces and secondary roads. most areas will experience just light snow. Bands of snow may form later after this first batch.

Snowbands possible today some areas will only get a dusting some up to 2 inches of snow. Up to 1 inch of snow possible along the TN/KY border. The best chance of 1+ amounts in the heavier bands is in the Evansville Tri State and the Northern Cumberland Plateau.

Is it you snow?

The first widespread snowfall threat is expected tomorrow. Snow accumulations aren't expected to be major, but travel issues could still develop.

Overview
- Timing of the snow is expected to be around 8am along the MS River, about 11am around the LBL area upwards towards Morganfield/Henderson, and around 12-12:30 around Todd/Muhlenberg Counties.
- Temperatures start out in the upper 30's in western portions of the area to around 40 in the eastern portions of the area. Temps. fall 10-15 degrees after the front and are expected to be in the mid to upper 20's areawide by sunset.
- Scattered snow showers could form throughout the night.
- 30 to 39MPH wind gusts could cause blowing snow.
- Total Snow accumulation of around 1 inch, but some areas that get into heavier bands may see 2 inches. (Best chance of this is around the Evansville Tri State area)
- Falling temperatures will mean that wet spots on the road will freeze, leaving very hazardous condition's late tomorrow afternoon into the evening hours.

All of Western KY is under a Winter WX Advisory for tomorrow. 1-2 inches of snow and blowing snow is possible in the heavier bands.

A F3 Tornado hit the Owensboro KY area 12 years ago today causing 65 million dollars in damage and 12 injuries. Thankfully no fatalities occurred.
