Lake Day 5 out of 5 Friday

We can already call Friday a 5 out of 5 lake day. Perfect weather on that day with highs around 90ish and mostly sunny skies. I will also do a lake day for the 4th of July as well. Although not related to Friday the heat starts to pick up and with it the rain chances as well into the 4th of July.

Severe Storms do appear possible behind this mess of rain moving across the Lake Barkley area as of now. We will need to watch and see if storms across Missouri will get organized and try to make a run at Western Kentucky. If they do damaging winds could occur.

Lake Day 4 out of 5

Lake Day of 4 out of 5 for tomorrow across all area lakes. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 80's with some chance of rain after sunset Friday.

Tornado Watch just to the east and south of Western KY.

Tornado Watch 541 will be going out for several Middle TN counties. Western KY(with the exception of South-Central KY counties Logan,Warren, Simpson) are not included. The threat of storms may extend into Northern Middle TN but should stay east of the cold front which is over Southwestern KY.

June 18th overview

The light after the rain.

For my lake fans it appears some clearing is going on. Some isolated storms could still form behind this mess of rain, but not widespread like this morning. The KY lake area may clear out in about a hour.

Confidence Level of 2 out of 5 for severe storms. Locally to Scattered damaging winds will be possible in the strongest storms today as well.

Lake Day update

Lake Day 3 out of 5 for all lakes and rivers in Western KY and NW Mid TN. Several MCS systems will move across the area there will likely be some breaks in the action, but also there will be some storms.

Some isolated to scattered storms are forming over the LBL area throughout the afternoon. Anytime you hear thunder or see a darkening sky take action to avoid being a target for lightning.

Hailstorms of June

Some half dollar plus sized hail is possible near Dunmor(Muhlenberg County) near Lafayette/Roaring Springs(Trigg/Christian).

Update on Junestorms

Hen Egg sized hail was reported in Nashville at Harding Road and I-24. Those storms will move to the south and east of Nashville. Isolated strong to severe storms may fire across Western KY.

Weather Update

Some chance of strong to severe storms is possible across the Purchase area of Western KY late tonight into the wee morning hours of tomorrow. If a MCS which should form in Missouri and move into the area stays strong damaging winds may occur low confidence. Confidence level of 1 out of 5.

As well as during tomorrow afternoon if we can destabilize enough from the morning activity. Hail and Wind may occur if any stronger storms form also low confidence.

Severe WX Possible. Tues-Wed

The severe threat will be west of Western KY tonight. Tomorrow into Wednesday will be the main severe weather threats.

Slight Risk of Severe Storms

Slight Risk of Severe storms for far Western KY for later today. The bigger threat will be tomorrow and Wednesday. A strong line or cluster of storms will move into the area. Damaging Winds and Large Hail could occur all across Western KY and Middle TN will any clustered activity that may occur.

Strong to Severe Storms

There is a chance of strong to severe storms today. Mostly west of the LBL area where damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats of any severe storm. Tuesday and Wednesday may also feature some isolated to scattered damaging wind and hail potential across Western KY and Middle TN.

Update

4 out of 5 lake day today instead of 5 out of 5. Some clouds are hanging around. There may be a slight chance of storms late tonight but this will be west of the LBL area and more towards US 45 westward. MCS factory is in effect from Monday into Wednesday. Could get some damaging winds anytime in that timeframe if an organized MCS forms.

Lake Day Update

Lake Day of 5 out of 5 tomorrow as the storms clear. No one should be on the lakes of LBL now due to the storms. These storms should clear out later tonight and be clearer and not quite as hot for tomorrow.

Thunder Boomers could Approach Lakes Area.

Some showers and thunderstorms will move into the lakes in around an hour or so and continue into the early evening. These storms shouldn't be severe, but anyone on the lakes will have to deal with a lightning threat with any nearby storm. Remember that lightning can strike 10+ miles away from a storm. So even distant storms need to be watched.

Another Update

Severe threat for Western KY and far NW Middle TN is over. Do think the atmosphere should be overworked enough to prevent more severe storms from firing. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may still occur so if you are on the lakes beware of those.

Update

A line of Severe Storms extends from Dawson Springs to Morgantown KY moving southward. Anyone on any pond, lake, or other waterway to the south of this line needs to get out there and seek shelter. 50 to 70MPH winds could occur on this line. Upwards to 50MPH winds may occur on the outflow boundary moving into Christian,Todd, and Logan Counties.

Also Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Trigg, Christian, and Todd Counties till 5pm

For anyone in Lake Malone area

If you are or know anyone who is in the Lake Malone area of SE Muhlenberg and far NE Todd into NW Logan Counties. It is time to get out of the water and seek shelter in a car or building. 60MPH+ winds are possible in this area within the next 45 mins.

Update Eastern Union/Henderson/Daviess/Webster/Mclean Counties: A little line segment of strong to even possibly severe storms is in SW Indiana. These storms if they strengthen could pose a damaging wind threat. Henderson/Owensboro will receive these storms in about 1 hour.

Lake Day outlook for Sunday the 5th

Lake Day of 4 out of 5 for the LBL area. An isolated thunderstorm and Heat Index values of 100 to 105 prevent this from being a perfect lake day, but it still will be a good one. Lake Day of 3 out of 5 for the Lake Malone area. A few severe storms with wind/hail may form, but coverage isn't expected to be widespread. This is for tomorrow.

Lake Day for tommorow.

5 out of 5 lake day for Lake Malone and the all of the LBL area except for Henry County. A 4 out of 5 lake day for Henry County which includes most of the Paris Landing State Park. The reason for the 4 out of 5 lake day in Henry County is due to the Heat Advisory which is in effect with Heat Index values around 105. 100-104 Heat Index values are possible elsewhere. Stay Hydrated out on the lakes tomorrow.

Dog Days of!!! Early June?

Heat Index Values of 100 to 104 are possible across Western KY and NW Middle TN today and throughout the weekend. A Heat Advisory is in effect for Henry/Decatur Counties in TN where HI values around 105 are possible for today. This could be extended for these 2 counties through Saturday and Sunday as well.

Tomorrow's Lake Day forecast index is a 5 out of 5. Conditions are expected to be dry and pretty hot. Luckily dew points will stay below 70 allowing HI values to hover around the actual temperatures which will be in the mid 90's. Do stay hydrated to prevent dehydration while on Western KY's Waterways.

Western KY got lucky on May 25th with only 1 EF-0, but widespread wind damage did occur. Also that EF-2 touchdown in Big Rock TN and moved just to the north of Oak Grove KY back on the 23rd.
